“I joined MNC as a director and can see MNC going from strength to strength. We are here to help the town with anything from education to providing food that would otherwise go into landfill. We opened our Charity Shop in the summer of 2020 to provide another service and this is going really well thanks to our community. We have recently introduced a local ‘meals on wheels service’ from our newly open café at Unit 3 Work and Skills Centre on Devonshire Road next to Tornado Wire. I am proud to be part of MNC and the help that we give.”
We provide a range of facilities and services to support local people and businesses at all stages, from providing opportunities for people to return to learning and enhance their personal and employability skills, to assisting businesses with a range of enterprise needs.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, MNC Ltd with its bank of enthusiastic and energetic volunteers and trustees and with the funding from several kind sources has provided much needed services to support the local community in a time of great need. We are open to provide as safe an environment as possible to allow a range of support activities to continue including the provision of facilities to agencies and training groups to deliver from our home that is the Millom Work and Skills Centre on Devonshire Road in Millom.
We would like to thank the volunteers who help the Centre and give generously of their time and talents. Our fantastic team help with a range of services: training and mentoring, running a busy Food Pantry, Café, Meals on Wheels service, Charity Shop and hosting a range of community events. We can also help with PAT testing and helping with van services including the odd house clearance.
We thank our sponsors and supporters including recent funding from: Cumbria Community Foundation, Thomas Milburn Fund for West Cumbria, Cumbria Young People’s People Fund, Shepley Group Grassroots Fund, Walney Extension Community Fund financed by Orsted, the High Sheriff of Cumbria, CGP Trust, Millom Town Council and the Funding from the Coronavirus Community Support Fund, distributed by The National Lottery Community Fund, with thanks to the Government for making this possible. We have also received private donations including a most generous one to upgrade our kitchen facilities for the benefit of the local community with both training and food service delivery in the near future.
Thank you also to those that make donations for our charity shop on 17 Newton Street – Millom Community Market and for house clearance requests and associated donations which all support our charity work in the local area.
