Welcome to our October – November Newsletter and Wow, what a hectic yet productive couple of months for MNC, we are very quickly becoming known as ‘The Place to be’, for those seeking help, advice and, always a warm welcome.

MNC are strengthening links with so many organisations to allow us to be in a position to offer more support for the people of Millom, which as a Community Charity is always at the heart of all we do.

We also have seen the completion of our disabled ramp, which was very professionally built along with much work around the outside of our building which is all credit to the guys from HMP Haverigg

Great news, we are delighted and proud to confirm that we have been chosen as the facility to host local driving theory tests which are organised by REED in Partnership in conjunction with DVSA this is a massive deal given where local test centres are at situated, the first date was held on 12th October and proved to be a success, there were a few teething problems but lessons learned going forward. Please note that MNC Ltd are not involved with appointments, bookings etc. We are simply providing the facilities for these sessions to go ahead.

The Well-being Café which is held every Wednesday afternoon 1.30pm – 2.30pm in partnership with ICC and has proved to be an amazing success, where people can meet and have a chat over Tea, Coffee and biscuits. Everyone looks forward to returning, it is a tonic to see so many smiling faces and people enjoying each other’s company. The good news is that they have secured funding into 2022, so long may it continue.

Millom STEM Club is now safely tucked under the MNC umbrella and with the extremely driven and dedicated George Burch at its helm, aided by its amazing STEM Ambassadors it continues to grow from strength to strength, investing in our children’s futures and minds is the way forward. Plans are now in place to enable STEM to be taken directly into schools which is fantastic news.

Our little centre has had a new lick of paint, to make it feel clean, fresh bright and welcoming, so our heartfelt thanks go to the wonderful guys from HMP Haverigg who during the rainy days whilst completing our ramp decorated, and then to our fabulous volunteer Ve Dust for completing the task.

November has seen some milestones that we didn’t quite expect, but yet are so proud of, on 20th November Millom was utterly rocked by an amazing event which was organised by our very own Sean Wilson and his fabulous Mum Jackie Wilson, Millom’s first ever ‘Drag Race’ everyone was wowed by the outstanding acts who were such professional performers, Dixie Normous and Clair Mydia, who also took time out to meet at greet with everyone. It also resulted in raising an amazing £623.00 for MNC!

On November 21st we had a Fabulous Festive Christmas Fair/Toy Sale, this was organised by one of our wonderful Trustees, Sarah Sharpe of Sarah’s Gifts, her wonderful husband Darren Sharpe was Santa for the day, the children all got to sit on Santa’s knee and were each given a special gift, it was truly heartwarming to see the smiles on the children’s faces, the atmosphere was wonderful with a variety of stalls manned by local crafters. The event also raised £806.80 for MNC!

We simply cannot thank the people of Millom for the overwhelming support that we receive and for their support in these events, the money raised now means that we can finally get our accessible toilet installed so that we can ensure that our centre truly has access for all.
